AlaCourt ACCESS, also called Just One Look, is the online source for public Randolph County Circuit and District Court records. The local Circuit Clerk does not offer a free county case database. AlaCourt covers public civil, criminal, domestic-relations, child-support, small-claims, state traffic, and other Alabama trial-court cases. A name search or case-number search costs $9.99, and a search that finds no match still counts as a paid search. Documents cost extra when images are available.
Choose the office first. Circuit and District cases begin with Circuit Clerk Chris May. Wills, estates, land records, conservatorships, adoptions, and name changes belong to Probate Court. City ordinance and some municipal traffic or misdemeanor cases may remain with Roanoke or Wedowee municipal authorities. Recent appeals use the state appellate portal. Have a full party name, likely court division, and an approximate filing year ready. An exact case number avoids confusion between people with similar names.

- Open AlaCourt ACCESS and select a name search or case-number search.
- Complete the paid search. A no-match result is still charged under the posted terms.
- Review status, parties, settings, court actions, financial history, and the case action summary.
- Ask the Circuit Clerk about certification, older paper files, unavailable images, or access limited to a party.

The public landing material does not reveal every field inside the paid workflow, so the table stays within the fields and options documented by the official service. Case monitoring is optional and has different prices for District and Circuit cases.

Types of Randolph County Court Records
Randolph County Circuit Court keeps felony, major civil, domestic, and other general-jurisdiction files. District Court handles limited-jurisdiction matters, including misdemeanors, preliminary felony stages, small claims, some civil and child-support cases, and state traffic citations. Circuit Clerk divisions include Civil, Criminal, Domestic, Child Support, Traffic, Juvenile, and Warrants. Court pleadings, fines, subpoenas, notices, and hearing records may appear within those files.
Probate Judge George Diamond keeps a separate group of records. Those include wills, estates, guardianships, conservatorships, marriage certificates, land recordings, and name-change matters. Municipal courts may keep city ordinance and municipal traffic cases. A person searching one state portal should not assume it contains every Randolph County judicial record.
- Civil: complaints, motions, judgments, garnishments, damages, notices, and written orders.
- Criminal: filed charges, indictments, pleas, settings, bond orders, disposition, sentencing, and costs.
- Traffic: citations, court dates, pleas, fines, driving-school decisions, and failure-to-appear actions.

What Randolph County Court Records Show
A paid case detail can show far more than a name and number. AlaCourt lists basic case information, status, setting dates, party details, financial history, court actions and rulings, a detailed case action summary, and available document images. The action summary is chronological. It lets a reader follow filings, settings, orders, judgments, service returns, and changes in status without treating each line as the final result.

A setting date is not proof that a hearing occurred. A charge is not a conviction. A docket entry may record only that a paper was filed. Check the latest action and the disposition field, then obtain the signed order if the legal effect matters.

Randolph County Court Record Access
Alabama Code section 36-12-40 supplies the broad right to inspect and copy public records when no law provides otherwise. Section 36-12-41 addresses copies and lawful fees. Judicial files also follow the statewide Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality Rules. Those rules define public access as the ability to inspect and obtain a copy unless a law, rule, or court order bars access, and they allow access fees.
The office holding the record controls the request. Court files go to the Circuit Clerk or Probate Court, not the County Commission. Commission open-records forms apply to records in Commission custody and require in-person proof of Alabama residency under the county policy. For a court file, start with the clerk. Identification may be needed for party-only material, and certification or document-copy fees can apply.

Restricted Randolph County Court Records
Juvenile court records are confidential under Alabama Code section 12-15-133, except for access granted to authorized people and agencies. Adoption and mental-health commitment files are not ordinary public searches. Protected victim addresses, Social Security numbers, account numbers, minor information, and confidential exhibits may be redacted from a filing that is otherwise public.
A sealed record is withheld under a court order or rule. An expunged criminal record has gone through a statutory process that limits ordinary public access. Dismissal alone does not necessarily seal or expunge a file. Rule 302 of Alabama's privacy framework provides a process to seek access to a sealed record in a civil action, but a requester must use the proper court procedure. The Circuit Clerk can explain filing steps but cannot give legal advice.
Law-enforcement investigative reports follow a separate limit under Alabama Code section 12-21-3.1. A public court charge or served warrant does not make the Sheriff's full investigative file open. Ask for the exact judicial document needed rather than a broad demand for all related material.
Randolph County Appellate Court Records
Appeals have their own system. The Alabama Appellate Courts Public Portal covers appellate documents filed or issued on or after March 20, 2022.
An appellate filing may summarize the trial record, but it does not replace the Randolph County trial-court file.
Randolph County Clerk Requests
Call, mail, or visit the Circuit Clerk when a Randolph County record predates electronic imaging, is not available in AlaCourt, needs certification, or presents a restricted-access question. Give the full names, case number if known, division, approximate year, and the exact order or filing requested. Ask the office to confirm cost and accepted payment before mailing money. A broad County Commission request is not the right path for a judicial record.
